When you sitting next to someone and a burp is coming out, you tried to cover your mouth but it's to late. Did you experienced it ever and think that why do we burp? How the burp comes out?

Here's why,

A burp or belch is nothing but the gas. When you eat or drink something, you don't just swallow it. You also swallow air with it. This air contains gases like nitrogen  and oxygen.

Sometimes when you swallow these gases, they need to get out. And thus, you experiences a burp. This extra gas is forced up through the esophagus and comes in the form of burp from the mouth.

Sometimes eating or drinking to fast can cause indigestion, which can also cause a burp as the extra air get into the stomach. The same thing happens when you drink through a straw.

When you drink the carbonated beverages they have carbon dioxide (CO2) which is also a gas. As the gases need to get out, we have a burp after drinking the carbonated beverages.
