Do fishes get thirsty?

The fishes always live in water so they do they ever get thirsty? How the drink the water? What helps them to do so?

Do fishes get thirsty? Answer to it is the fishes do not drink the water they absorb the water with the help of their gills.

These gills absorb the water inside the fish and this process is called osmosis. This process includes many more things in it.

Then you might have a question, does the fishes living in the oceans or seas absorb the salty water and live? Their gills also have a special function or you can say they have a special mechanism through which they excess salts present in the water gets out.

This how the clean and fresh water is absorbed by them and as their gills can absorb water anytime. Thus, they don't get thirsty. Their gills maintain their water content balanced.

So, the thirsty feeling that humans get, is not experienced by the fishes. So, we can say that they don't ever get thirsty. This gills are one of the important part of fishes.
