What if you swallowed a chewing gum?

Everyone loves to chew gum in the mouth for a long time, specially children have this habit, but what if you swallowed this chewing gum? Would it get struck in the stomach or nothing will happen?

As its name, chewing gum is for chewing not to swallow. But, it generally isn't harmful if swallowed.

There is very popular myth that swallowed gum sits in your stomach for seven years before it gets digested. But this isn't true. It's true that, gum is hard to be digested. But the gum doesn't stay in your stomach for a long time.

It relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted with your stool. On very rare occasions, if the gum is swallowed on large amounts it combines with constipation and blocks the intestines in children.

So, to avoid this situation the frequent swallowing of the chewing gum should be avoided, especially in children.
