Sometimes you see something bacteria type in the front of your eyes, this are called eye floaters. When we move our eyes and try to look at them directly, they seem to dart away but why do we see eye floaters? What causes them to appear?

Let's know,

Eye floaters are tiny spots or thread like strands that drift is our field of vision. When the light from an object enters into our eyes, it passes through the vitreous humor to form an image on the retina.

It is 99% water and 1% collagen fibres. These collagen fibres are spread evenly throughout the vitreous humor. Sometimes, this fibres tend to come together which then forms clumps or strands.

When we look at the clear sky or blank background and the clumps or strands are very close to the retina, this causes a strong shadow on the retina which makes them easily noticeable in the clear background. Hence, forms the eye floaters.
