You all are listening from your elders to avoid cutting hairs and not to eat non-veg in the month of Shravan but why to avoid it? Why should we not cut our hairs during the month of Shravan?

Here's why,

Shravan is the fifth month of Indian solar year. Means, it starts at the end of July and end after some days of August. The shravan is month of rains, as in India the month of July and August is full of rain.

Now,  the question is why should we avoid eating non-veg in the month of shravan. The answer is that, there is a possibility of an outbreak of water borne in this month with hygiene at its worst. So, the meat, eggs and other non-veg are at a high risk of being infected. Eating that can bring various diseases. As a result, it is believed to avoid eating non-veg in the month of shravan.

Taking about why we shouldn't cut hairs, then in the olden days the people used to shave and cut there hairs outside. So, the constant rain may lead the scissors/blades getting rusted. Shaving with such rusted blades is not good. Thus, it is avoided.

This is scientific behind avoiding this things in the month of shravan.
