Have you ever wondered, what's that sticky and shiny substance in your ears, this is earwax. But have you ever wondered what is earwax? Where does it come from?

Let's know,

Earwax is used to protect and lubricate our ear canal, middle ear and inner ear. Our inner ear consists of special glands. They produce a waxy and oily substance called cerumen. Cerumen helps to moisturize our ears.

It traps dust and dead skin cells, keeping our ears clean. Besides this, cerumen also has some antibacterial properties. When harmful microbes try to enter deeper into our ears the cerumen traps and kills this microbes.

These dead microbes, dust, oil and dead cells together form the earwax.
