Have you ever thought that, what if the sun become half of its size, then what will happen to our earth?
Let's know,
Since the sun's size is half as big, the it's mass will much decreased as well and so would the brightness.
It would affect the earth's orbit dramatically. With a smaller mass, sun's gravity would not have a great gravitational pull on the earth. The earth would move and the distance would increase between the Sun and the earth, the year would be more lengthen.
The temperature would decrease due to lower luminosity and greater distance of earth.
The earth would start cooling and begin to freeze due to lower heat of the sun. It could become so cold for living things to live.
The day would be not so bright as it is now, possibly no brighter than a very cloudy day and the night would be much darker. It would also affect our entire solar system.
Smaller changes of sun can end the life on earth. This situation is a hypothetical situation, not a fact.
