Why the ocean water appears blue to us ?

Though the water is transparent, why do oceans appear blue to us,

Let's know why,

Ocean looks blue because red, orange, yellow and green (long wavelength light) are absorbed more strongly than blue, indigo and violet (story wavelength light).

So when the white light (before visualization) from the sun enters the ocean, it is mostly the blue that gets returned. Same reason the sky is blue, to know why the sky is blue click here.

In other words, the preferential absorption of long wavelength light give rises to blue.

But this happens only when the water is pure, if it is full of mud or other impurities then the light scattered off this impurities overwhelm the blue colour.

This is the reason why the ocean appears blue to us.
